Updated

Purpose

This article contains the best practices for Operators who are using Pico Vision devices, such as, but not limited to: PicoCooler Vision, PicoAmbient Vision, or PicoFreezer Vision, etc.

Process

Follow these guidelines to get the best performance from 365 Pico Vision devices.

  1. Use the correct scancode for each item.
  2. Add item images.
  3. Maintain the planograms so they reflect what is in the cooler.
  4. Use templates to manage Planograms for multiple coolers.
  5. Use the 365Ops App for restocking.
  6. Follow guidance for Fresh Food stocking.
  7. Operational checklist.

Use the Correct Scancodes

Create items in ADM using the correct scancodes/barcodes (UPCs) provided by the manufacturer. UPCs can vary based on packaging.

For example:

  • 049000006346 for a single Coca-Cola Regular 12 oz can.

  • 049000028904 for a 12-pack of the same.

Once the first scancode for a product is entered, it should not be changed. If additional scancodes are needed, they can be added, but the original should remain unchanged.

After creating items in ADM, press the "Send Catalog to Stockwell" button to ensure they are available in the Stockwell database.

If using a VMS with VDI integration, items sent to ADM from the VMS are automatically synced to Stockwell.

Add Item Images

Once items are available in the Stockwell database, ensure that each item has a front-facing image. Items can be viewed and edited on the Stockwell website.

Click on items that do not have an image, as indicated by the placeholder icon. A pop-up will appear allowing for upload of an image from a computer. Open-source images from search engines like Google can be used. Make sure the image file format is .jpeg or .png.

Only a front-facing image is needed. This image is used across all units at a location.

For any additional questions please reference the article, Stockwell Web App - Schema Setup.

Create and Maintain Accurate Planograms

Create and maintain accurate planograms. Accurate planograms assist in faster and more accurate transaction processing.

  • Avoid placing similar-looking items on the same shelf.

  • Use only one item per lane – the items in the lane must match the planogram. Do not mix different flavors or products in the same lane.

  • Place larger items away from the hinges and smaller items closer to the hinges to improve CV accuracy.

Use Planogram Templates

If multiple Stockwell units have the same or very similar products, template planograms can be created and used to manage all the units. This is extremely useful when substituting items across a whole fleet.

Note: Planogram templates can only be applied within a singular location, and cannot be applied across locations or organizations.

For additional information regarding setting up Planogram Templates please reference the article, Stockwell 2.0 - Store Schema.

Use 365Ops App for Restocking

Using the 365Ops app during restocking allows for capturing a front-facing image of the unit. This image serves as verification that the unit has been restocked accurately according to the planogram. The app can be downloaded from the Google Play Store and the Apple App Store. For additional questions regarding the 365Ops app please reference the article, 365Ops App - Operator Guide.

Note: These restock images are used during transaction reviews and significantly reduce the number of requests to identify unidentified items. Adding front image also serves as visual audit and proof of restock for the operators.

In restocking mode, the driver can open and close the door multiple times without it locking! It is highly recommended that drivers close the door during restocking to avoid causing high temperatures in the cooler. High temperatures for extended periods result in the health safety lock (HSA) being triggered which must be manually reset. This leads to device downtime and a loss of sales.

For additional information regarding the Health Safety Lockout please reference the article, PicoCooler - Health Safety Timer Lockout & Override.

Unlocking the Health Safety Lockout

For more information on how to unlock a device when the Health Safety Lockout is engaged please reference the article, Due North (MinusForty) - Unlocking Coolers using the Temperature Controller.

If unlocking the cooler via the Driver Menu, and the Health Safety Lock is engaged, the Health Safety Lock must first be cleared.

To clear the Health Safety Lock and unlock the cooler via the Driver Menu, perform the following steps:

  1. Hold the Down arrow button on the temperature controller of the cooler for about ten seconds, or until you hear a beep. The Health Safety Lock will now be disengaged.

Stocking Fresh Food

Pico Vision solutions support fresh food, as long as the packaging has distinct labels that make them easy to distinguish from each other.

  • Height or width: more than 4 inches.

  • Ensures products remain visible and identifiable, even when held by hands of average size.

  • It must have distinctive packaging.

  • Similar looking items must be placed on different shelves.
