365Dining - OrderAhead - Transaction Level and Product Level Upsell Settings
Updated

Purpose

An upsell encourages customers to add extras to their order (e.g., “Would you like to add a drink or make it a combo?”). These are aimed at increasing the total sale value.

The upsell feature is available on the mobile apps, like 365Pay, and on self-service dining devices for OrderAhead-enabled locations. It can be applied in two ways: as a Transaction Level Upsell, or a Product Level Upsell.

Process

Below are the processes and conditions surrounding our two types of upsells: Transaction Level Upsells and Product Level Upsells.

Transaction Level Upsells

Important Conditions

  • An OrderAhead location can only have one active transaction-level upsell at a time.
  • Upsell products must be extended to the location where you want them to appear.
  • Upsell products need to be included in your self-service menu.
  • Modifiers are not allowed on upsell products.
  • Upsell products cannot have upsells assigned to them

Please Note: Products that conflict with the rules above will not be shown as upsell options.

Transaction Level Upsell Configurations

  1. Log into ADM .

  2. Click the Product tab, then select Upsells from the drop-down menu.

  4. Whether you are editing an existing upsell or creating a new one, you will see the following on the Upsell configuration page:

    • Upsell Name: This required field sets the header text for the upsell section (e.g., "Complete your purchase with these items!" or "Add a beverage!"). It will be displayed above the listed upsell items on the Checkout screen of the app.
    • Active: This determines whether a transaction level upsell is active or not. By default, this box is checked. To turn off or pause a transaction level upsell, uncheck the this option.
    • Limit Upsell Items That Display To No More Than: This optional field allows you to limit the number of upsell items shown to the customer. For the best consumer experience, we recommend displaying no more than five items.
    • Skip Products Already In Cart: When enabled, this optional setting prevents upsell items that are already in the customer’s cart from being shown again as upsells.
    • Skip Categories Already In Cart: This optional setting filters transaction level upsells shown based on product categories. If enabled, the system compares the categories of upsell items (Category 1) with those already in the customer’s cart. If a match is found, the upsell item is skipped in favor of a different one. Example: If the cart already contains a bag of chips, the system may suggest a candy bar instead of another bag of chips.

    • Upsell Product: In this section, you can choose whether to display product images for transaction-level upsells. You can also add, remove, or rearrange products in the transaction-level upsell list.

      • Display on kiosk as: This determines how upsells appear on the kiosk’s / app’s cart screen. By default, it’s set to “Text Only.” If you select “Text With Image,” the upsell will display both text and the product image from the item’s Product Summary in ADM.
      • Add product: To add a product to the transaction level upsell list, click the Add button located to the right of the Category column.
      • Delete product: Once a product has been added, a Delete option will appear in the same area, allowing you to remove the product from the transaction level upsell list if needed.
      • Rearrange products: You can rearrange the order of products in the transaction level upsell list by clicking and holding the arrow icon in the Order column, then dragging and dropping the product into the desired position. This determines the order in which upsell products will appear in the consumer’s cart.

  5. Save any changes.
