Verifone UX410 Installation Guide for Gen3 and MM6 Mini

Purpose

This article concerns installing a Verifone UX410 on the Gen3 Kiosk and the MM6 Mini Kiosk.

Ordering Process

There are two ways to order this device:

  • If you are replacing an existing card reader with your new Verifone UX410 device, fill out the form available at the Adyen Retrofit Kit Request Portal.

  • If you are purchasing a new Verifone UX410 device without replacing an existing card reader, please fill out the Australian Ordering Form

 

Before You Start

  • Complete the ADM Setup Process as described in Verifone - Operator Onboarding Guide
     
  • Review the rest of this guide in full before going onsite
     
  • Verify all hardware is accounted for. Make note of both of the reader's serial numbers when the reader is received.
     
  • Please notify 365Support at least 2 business days before installing the reader. This will help them verify that the location is ready for install. 
    • If possible, please schedule installation on a weekday so that 365 Support can more easily assist with this process.
       
  • Plan for 3 hours of downtime during installation to accommodate processor configuration time.
     
  • A credit card will be needed for testing the reader once installation is completed.

 

Process

Gen3 Kiosk

Tools Needed:

  • Ratchet with a 5/16 or 8mm size bit. Also, a 9–32/2 bit (used to remove and tighten bolts).
  • 5/16 X 3 1/4 Philips head screwdriver
  • Power Drill
  • Wire cutters or a small knife to remove any zip ties
  • A credit card will be needed for testing the reader once installation is completed.

Adyen Reader Kit

  • Adyen Reader device
  • Adyen Reader mounting bracket
  • Power cord
  • One Adyen Reader Mount Cover

Removing the Old Reader

  1. Remove the two screws located at the top of the kiosk.

  2. Next, move to the front of the kiosk and slowly pull the front of the shell toward you.

  3. Have a spotter hold the front of the kiosk for you, or rest it against yourself as you work.

  4. Remove the center screw to move the speaker and detach the safety latch. Move the speaker off to the side of the kiosk.

  5. Remove all the cabling from the gray communication box that is linked with the UX410 Reader.

  6. Remove the 4 Locknuts w/ Ext. Tooth lock with your ratchet tool, using either a 5/16 or 8mm size bit.

  7. Remove the controller by pulling toward yourself.

  8. Remove the COM and COAX cable and on the back of the Verifone UX410 reader.

  9. Next, remove the 4 pairs of washers and nuts using the 9 - 32/2 bit and ratchet. Hold the reader in place in the front of the kiosk so that it doesn’t fall.

  10. Slide the reader out along with the black mount cover.

 

Installing the Verifone Reader

  1. Using the holes on the perimeter, line up your replacement gray controller with the screws on the bracket.
    PLEASE NOTE: The lifted side of the bracket should be on the left side, and the controller’s Serial Number should be right-side-up.

  2. Use the 4 Locknut w/ Ext. Tooth lock (teeth side down) and place them on the screws and tighten with your ratchet tool, using either a 5/16 or 8mm size bit.

  3. Look for a "Y" shaped plug and remove the AMIT power brick (if applicable). You may need to adjust the cables to access this plug. With the power brick now removed, leave "Y" shaped power connector outside the kiosk.

    • If the 'Y' connector is missing, plug the Adyen power adapter into the yellow power adapter stored in the bottom of the market.

  4. Plug the power adapter for the Adyen reader into ‘Y’ connector or power adapter.

  5. Plug in the power cable connector into the controller.

  6. Plug the ethernet cable into the Silver Port. Locate the black COM cable and COAX cable that come with the reader and plug them into the bottom of the controller.

  7. Place the black mount cover over the back of the new UX410 reader.

  8. With the reader in one hand, line up the screws and push them through the bracket openings.

  9. Take the washers and nuts from the UX410 reader kit and place the washers over the four screws. Hand tighten the nuts. Use the 9–32/2 bit and a 7mm ratchet to secure them.

  10. Attach the COM cable and Coax cable to the back of the reader.

 

Reassembling the Kiosk

  1. Move the speaker back into position and secure it in the center of the kiosk. Make sure to reattach the latch.

  2. Close the front of the kiosk and reinsert the screws from the back.

Testing the Reader

  1. Notify 365 Support that the installation of the reader has been completed.

  2. 365 Support will configure and update the new reader as needed. This may take up to 3 hours.

  3. Test the reader once 365 has completed the configuration.

 

MM6 Mini Kiosk

Tools Needed:

  • Ratchet to remove and tighten bolts:

    • a 5/16 (8mm) size bit

    • 9–32/2 size bit 

  • Key to kiosk to unlock and open.

  • Wire cutters or a small knife to remove any zip ties

Adyen Reader Kit

  • Adyen Reader device
  • Adyen Reader mounting bracket
  • Power cord
  • One Adyen Reader Mount Cover

Removing the Old Reader

  1. Unlock kiosk using key and open door fully.

  2. Locate the gray controller that is attached to the UX410 Reader, found on the side wall of the kiosk.

  3. Remove all the cabling from the gray controller box. This includes a COM, COAX, ethernet, and power cable.

  4. Remove the 4 Locknuts w/ Ext. Tooth lock with your ratchet tool, using either a 5/16 or 8mm size bit.

  5. Remove the controller by pulling toward yourself.

  6. Remove the COM and COAX cables on the back of the Verifone UX410 reader, which is located on the front panel.

  7. Next, remove the 4 pairs of washers and nuts using the 9 - 32/2 bit and ratchet. Hold the reader in place in the front of the kiosk so that it doesn’t fall.

  8. Slide the reader out along with the black mount cover.

Installing the New Reader

  3. Plug in the power cable connector into the controller.

  4. Plug the ethernet cable into the Silver Port. Locate the black COM cable and COAX cable that come with the reader and plug them into the side of the controller.

  5. Place the black mount cover over the back of the new UX410 reader.

  6. With the reader in one hand, line up the screws and push them through the bracket openings.

  7. Take the washers and nuts from the UX410 reader kit and place the washers over the four screws. Hand tighten the nuts. Use the 9–32/2 bit and a 7mm ratchet to secure them.

Testing the Reader

  1. Notify 365 Support that the installation of the reader has been completed.

  2. 365 Support will configure and update the new reader as needed. This may take up to 3 hours due to processor configuration.

  3. Test the reader once 365 has completed the configuration.
