Purpose
This article outlines what the Restricted Product Program is and how it works for Visiom Smart Store devices such as a PicoCooler Vision.
Process
Some brands deploy computer vision (CV) coolers designed to sell brand-approved products only. These coolers use 365 technology and are provided as part of a brand-specific program.
To support these programs, 365 offers a Restricted Product Program that ensures certain CV coolers only offer products from an approved brand list, while still allowing locations to sell other products through non-restricted devices.
If there are questions about participation in a brand-restricted program, contact a 365 representative.
What Is a Restricted Product Program?
The Restricted Product Program ensures that certain devices can only sell products from an approved list defined by a participating brand.
For brand-restricted CV coolers:
- Only brand-approved products may be sold.
- Approved products are identified by UPC.
- Restrictions apply automatically; no daily management is required.
This approach ensures brand compliance while minimizing operational impact.
What This Means for the Location
Brand-Restricted CV Coolers
If a location includes a brand-restricted CV cooler only approved products from that brand are available for purchase from that cooler. Non-approved items do not appear and cannot be sold on the restricted CV cooler.
Restrictions are enforced automatically by the system.
Other Devices at the Same Location
It is common for a location to include multiple device types, such as brand-restricted CV coolers, kiosks, or other 365-powered devices.
In mixed-device environments:
- Brand-restricted CV coolers sell approved brand items only.
- Other devices may sell both approved and non-approved products.
Customers may see a broader assortment elsewhere in the market, even though the restricted CV cooler remains brand-specific.
How Products Are Approved
UPC-Based Matching
Products are approved using their UPC (barcode).
- Product names may vary by location or operator.
- UPCs provide a consistent method to ensure only approved items are sold.
If a product’s UPC is not on the brand’s approved list, it will not be available on the restricted CV cooler.
Product Sync and Availability
Products that are not on the approved list:
- Do not sync to the restricted CV cooler.
- Do not appear in Stockwell/CV for that device.
- Cannot be added to or placed in a planogram for a restricted CV cooler.
If a product is not approved, it is not available for configuration or sale on the restricted CV device.
Product Updates
Participating brands may regularly review and update their approved product lists.
What to Expect
- Updates may occur on a recurring basis (for example, monthly).
- Newly approved products become available automatically.
- No action is required for updates to take effect.
This ensures the product assortment remains aligned with the brand’s current program.
What Does Not Require Action
- Manually approving products
- Configuring restrictions
- Managing product eligibility rules
All enforcement is handled automatically through the 365 platform.
Common Questions
Why are other brands available elsewhere in the market?
Some locations include devices that are not part of a brand-restricted program. These devices are not restricted and may sell a broader range of products.
Why is a specific product not available?
The product may not yet be on the brand’s approved list or may have an incorrect or missing UPC.
Approved product lists are updated regularly based on the participating brand’s program.
