Purpose
This article outlines the DEX information for the peripherals such as coin tubes, bill validator, or cashless reader for Parlevel devices.
Process
As part of the latest platform update, new parsing logic to extract and display additional fields from incoming DEX messages has been introduced. These changes affect what is now stored, surfaced, and visible in the system at the machine level.
Peripherals Information Display
A new Peripherals section has been added to the device detail view. This section displays hardware metadata derived from the following DEX fields:
| DEX Field | Parsed As |
|---|---|
| CA | Bill Validator |
| 1BA1 | Coin Mechanism |
| DA1 | Cashless Reader |
Visible Attributes (if present)
- Model
- Serial Number
- Firmware/Version
Behavior
- If only a subset of the fields is present in the DEX message, only those fields will be displayed.
- The UI layout may show blank space if some values are missing. This is by design due to structured placement of elements.
- Parsed values are stored in the DMS and viewable in the front-end if present in the last received DEX message.
Instructions
- Click the “Device ID” on the Billable Machines page. This is where DEX data-including peripherals and coin tube metrics-will surface.
- Locate the 'Peripherals' Section Scroll to the Peripherals Info area. If the latest DEX message contains valid CA, 1BA1, or DA1 fields the model, serial, and firmware info will appear.
Coin Tube Data (CA-17 Parsing)
DEX messages that include CA-17 fields now populate tube-level coin tracking in the system. These values are visible on the Change Levels chart per machine.
Supported Denominations
- $0.05
- $0.10
- $0.25
- $0.50
Displayed Metrics
- Tube Quantity
- Tube Value
- Last Recorded Change Level
- Historical Charting Over Time
Storage & Behavior
- Parsed values are recorded historically and can be queried.
- Displayed data reflects the most recent valid DEX message.
- Non-standard denominations (e.g., $1.00) may appear during QA or test scenarios but are not expected in typical production messages.
Instructions
- Click the “Device ID” on the Billable Machines page.
- Click the Change Levels chart for the same machine.
- If CA-17 data was parsed, coin tube levels by denomination will be shown over time.
- View latest change level column for each denomination to see how much was recorded during the last DEX pull.
- Click Totals to view the total change level for all tubes.
