AVLive - Reports - Sales Tax Report and Detail Sales Tax Report

The Sales Tax and Detail Sales Tax reports are used for calculating the tax dollar amount across all machines and products sold.

Set Tax Rates

The sales tax rates used for these calculations can be customized and set in a variety of ways. For a top level blanket rate that will be used for all future products added, set the default tax rate at the Company level.

MyCompany dropdown.PNG

  1. Click on the My Company drop-down menu.

  2. Select Company Info.

  3. Select the Options tab.

  4. Set Default Sales Tax Rate.

  5. Click Save.

This rate will be used as default when creating or adding a product, as shown below. This field can be edited when products are added if you need a different rate.

Note: Changing the Default Sales Tax Rate will make it the new default for any products added in the future, but will not retroactively adjust any tax rates for existing products or planogram slots.

Individual Product Tax

You can set Individual product tax rates from the My Products screen for existing products, or when creating or adding new products. This rate will be used as the default in Planogram slots when selecting the desired product for the slot.

Adjust existing product tax rate

  1. Click on the My Company drop-down menu.

  2. Select Products.

  3. Click Edit on the right side of the Product grid.

  4. Edit either the Cost or Sales Tax Rate fields.

  5. Click Update.

Note: Changing a product tax rate will make it the default for any future planogram slots set with this product, but will not retroactively change the tax rate for any existing planogram slots.

Individual Planogram Slots

Tax rates for the same product can vary across different states and counties. For this, the Sales Tax Rate can be set by the individual planogram slot in each machine. When you set a planogram slot with a product, that slot will inherit that product's tax rate set in the section above. Here is how to edit that rate:

  1. Click on an active planogram for a machine.

  2. Select a product from the product drop-down menu.

  3. Be sure that the Sales Tax Rate field is populated with the product tax rate set above.

  4. Edit the Sales Tax Rate field to the rate that you want.

  5.  Save the planogram. This rate will now take precedence in tax calculations for sales in this slot for this machine.

Sales Tax Report

The Sales Tax Report will calculate the average tax rate and tax dollar amount for all sales across all machines based on the rates set above. Tax rates will be calculated in between different types of sales, i.e., Cash, Credit, Coupon, Account, and Total. As seen above, there are multiple places in which the sales tax rate can be set. Since tax rates can vary across different locations and products, when running the report, the operator can specify which of the set criteria mentioned above should be used when calculating the tax data.

  • Planogram Tax Rate - cached tax rate stored from the time of the sale. It will not change if the planogram tax rates have changed since the time of the sale.
  • Product Tax Rate
  • Machine Tax Rate
  • Specified Tax Rate in the Report filter.

  7. Click Preview.

Detail Sales Tax Report

The Detail Sales Tax report functions the same as the report mentioned above, only it is segmented into detailed line items for all sales. The sales tax rate calculation is the same as mentioned above, but this report will show which rate was used for each product in each machine.
