How to Locate the Kiosk Serial Number
The Gen3 kiosk model opens like a “Clamshell” and all key components are easily accessible. The Serial number will begin with prefix KSK followed by six digits. This can be found on a black and white sticker, on the right side of the kiosk.
How to Open and Close Kiosk for Service
Always use the PC Power button to turn off the kiosk.
- Use a pen and insert it in on the side access hole to push the PC Power button (don’t hold, just push and release).
- Never unplug the main power if the Kiosk is running!!!
Note: We recommend that you support the front of the Kiosk when in service position with a “Roller Stand” which is available at your local home improvement store.
Service the PC
- Take a picture with your phone before you start the
- It is easier to disconnect and connect the USB devices if the PC is slightly angled
- Remove 2x screws on the PC mounting bracket.
- Pull the PC forward and disconnect all connectors.
- Install the new PC by reversing Step 2 and Step 1.
Service the Fingerprint Reader
- Take a picture with your phone before you start the service.
- Each component has a “Color Code”. Look at the legend decal to find the correct connector on the PC.
- Cut the FP zip-tie.
- Remove the two screws. Push the cable conduit out of the rear bracket.
- Locate the USB cable with the blue marking and pull the cable out of the wiring loom.
- Install new FP-kit and align with the bezel.
- Tighten the screws.
- Perform Steps three through one in reverse.
NAYAX Schematic
Service Amit (internal credit card device)
Take a picture with your phone before you start the service.
- Carefully remove all four cables attached to the unit. Do not pull on the cable.
- The unit is held in place by magnets. Remove the unit from the kiosk.
- Remove the unit from the kiosk.
- Attach the new Amit Reader with magnet in the same place as the old one.
- Reconnect all four cables to the new unit.
Service Nayax (external credit card device)
Take a picture with your phone before you start the service.
- Carefully unplug the Data/Power cable from the back of the Nayax Reader.
- Remove the four screws holding the reader to the Bezel.
- Attach new Nayax Reader with four screws and washers.
- Reattach the Data/Power cable to the back of the new Nayax Reader.
Service the Barcode Scanner
- Take a picture with your phone before you start the
- Typically the Scanner cable does not need to be
- Remove 2x screws from scanner bracket (small Philips-head screwdriver).
- Unscrew the Serial connector from Scanner with small flat-head screwdriver.
- Disconnect the serial Connector (sometimes the hex-post comes out of the Scanner so use a 3/16” socket to replace it).
- Install the new Scanner.
- Reverse Step 3 to 1.
- Adjust the Scanner to the opening in the front Bezel.
Note: We recommend that you support the front of the Kiosk when in service position with a “Roller Stand” which is available at your local home improvement store.
Service the HD-Camera
- Take a picture with your phone before you start the
- Each component has a “Color Code”. Look at the legend decal to find the correct connector on the PC.
- Remove 2x screws from camera bracket.
- Carefully cut the 3x zip-ties and follow the cable Harness.
- Locate the USB cable with the gray marking and pull the cable out of the wiring loom.
- Install the new Camera and align with the Bezel.
- Tighten the screws.*
- Reverse Step 3 to 1.
* Before you tighten the screws make sure the Camera is properly aligned with the opening in the kiosk front Bezel.
Service the Speaker Sound Bar
- Take a picture with your phone before you start the service.
- Each component has a “Color Code”. Look at the legend decal to find the correct connector on the PC.
- Cut the two zip-ties where the power connector is mounted to the sound bar.
- Disconnect the power and remove the 1x mounting screw in the center of the speaker.
- Disconnect the audio from the PC and remove it from the kiosk.
- Install the new speaker and connect the audio plug into the PC.
- Insert the mounting screw and the safety strap. Reconnect the power cable.
When placing the new sound-bar in position, be sure that no cables get pinched between the back bracket and sound bar housing. Make sure the audio jack is fully inserted into the audio jack on the PC.
Service or Replace the Touchscreen
- Take a picture with your phone before you start the service.
- Each component has a “Color Code”. Look at the legend decal to find the correct connector on the PC.
- Cut all zip- ties which are attached to the touchscreen.
- Disconnect all connectors and the safety strap from TS.
- Use a 7 mm wrench to remove 4x screws on the top and bottom.
- Push on the front of the screen and remove it from the kiosk chassis.
- Prep the new TS for installation by placing 4x adhesive pads as shown.
- Place the screen into the chassis as shown. Do not pinch any cables.
- Hand start the four screws and use a 7mm wrench to finish fastening the screws.
- Reconnect all connections and secure the cables with zip-ties.
Before you close the kiosk start up the PC. You may have to power “on” the Touchscreen monitor during the first start-up.
The TS needs to be calibrated in “landscape” format. The 365 Support team will assist you with that process.
Service the Router
Take a picture with your phone before you start the service.
- Remove the network cover by loosening the two screws ½ a turn.
- Unplug the four cables and pull the router straight up.
- Drop the new Router in and plug the four cables back in the same spots.
Note: Making the correct connections is extremely important.
- Place the network cover back and tighten both screws.
Tips & Tricks
- Never unplug the kiosk if it is running, always use the Power button.
- Always take a picture before you start disassembling.
- Use a “Roller Stand” or similar product to support the front of the Kiosk during service.
- Watch for pinched cables.
- Hold wire cutters upside down to avoided damaging cables.
- It is very easy to accidentally turn off the router power.
- The fingerprint reader has a silicone film, do not remove the film. Only clean it with a mild cleaning solution like Windex.
- When disconnecting a serial / DVI / VGA connector, the post often becomes unscrewed (use a 3/16” nut driver to fasten it).
- Zip-ties can be curled to make it easier to loop them through the holes .
- Make sure the 2x screws on the back of the kiosk are in when the service is done.
