PicoCooler Vision with Imbera - Operator Guide
Updated

Purpose

This guide walks Operators step-by-step through the unboxing, installation, wiring, and initial configuration of a PicoCooler Vision with Imbera - so the cooler is fully operational and ready for stocking and transactions.

In this article you will:

  • Unpack and inspect the cooler, and all included materials.
  • Identify the correct firmware version.
  • Install shelves, leveling screws, and stabilize the unit.
  • Mount the Pico device, and connect the required cables.
  • Configure the system, and perform a test unlock.

Tools and Included Materials

Required Tools: Torx 20 & 25 screwdriver, CIR Wifi app (Android or iOS)

Recommended Tools / Safety: safety goggles, shoes, gloves, pliers, Phillips or flathead screwdriver

Included in Shipment:

  • Imbera Installation Guide & User Manual
  • Pico device (pre-installed on door mounting bracket)
  • Machine screws ((2) 8-32 x 5/8"; (3) 10-32 x 7/8")
  • Leveling skids and (4) leveling screws
  • (5) Shelves and (20) shelf clips

Process

1. Unpack the Cooler and Materials

Unload near the final install location. Allow 4-6 feet of workspace. 30 minutes are typically needed for unpacking, shelf installation, and testing the device.

The Cooler and rear-mounted Technology Box are powered separately; ensure a 120 V outlet with at least 2 available sockets.

2. Identify Firmware Version

The Imbera G319's firmware version determines how it can be unlocked, and how it can reset HSA.

The firmware can can be identified via sticker, or through ADM.

Firmware Identification via Sticker

Units with firmware v. 431/831 will have a sticker on the unit which reads FW: 431 or FW: 481 accordingly.
It will appear right next to another sticker which reads PCV IMB above a barcode.

These units will not work with the app, and would instead use the Driver Menu on the pico itself for unlocks/HSA resets.

Units with firmware v. 427 will not have a firmware sticker. If there is no sticker next to the PCV IMB barcode sticker, the unit is on v. 427.

These units can unlock via the app or the Driver Menu, and must use the app for HSA resets.

Firmware Identification via ADM

In ADM, a pico unit's firmware version can be identified from the Device Summary page:

  • If the unit is on firmware v. 431/481: a Reset HSA Lockout button will appear under the Reboot Device button.
(If the device is not in HSA lockout status, the Reset HSA Lockout button will be grayed out.)

  • If the unit is on firmware v. 427: The Reset HSA Lockout button will not appear.

3. Access the Cabinet

The way to access (unlock) the cabinet for the first time depends on which firmware version the unit is on.
(Please see the Identify Firmware section above for how to identify the applicable firmware.)

Alternatively, either version can be unlocked via the physical unlock button in the event of a power outage.

Unlock via App

Please Note: Units on firmware v. 431/481 cannot use the app, and would instead use the Driver Menu to unlock the cooler.

To unlock through the app (v. 427 units only):

  1. Download the CIR WiFi app by SOFTEL (in the AppStore for iOS or PlayStore for Android); allow location and bluetooth permissions.
The app is used to remotely lock/unlock the cooler using your mobile phone.

  2. Power the cooler.

  3. Note the MAC address printed on the SOFTEL CIR WIRELESS tag on the inner cabinet wall.
(The MAC address is identifiable by 6 pairs of characters).

  4. Open the CIR WiFi app.
    1. A screen labeled BLE Devices will scan for and display MAC addresses of nearby Bluetooth devices. Look for and tap the entry that matches the MAC Address on the sticker.
    2. Tap the Unlock button to unlock the cooler door.
    3. The cooler door will unlock, and a Success Unlocked message will appear on the app.

After opening the door, consider propping it open to avoid repeating these steps. To lock the door again, tap the Lock button in the app, or disconnect the cooler's power cord from the electrical outlet.

Unlock via Driver Menu

Units on firmware v. 431/481 cannot use the app, and thus would unlock through the Driver Menu.
Units on v. 427 can unlock via the Driver Menu as well, but can also use the app.

To unlock through the Driver Menu (all firmware versions):

  1. Tap the top-left corner of the screen five times > input the PIN for the account > tap the green checkmark.

  2. Tap the Unlock button to unlock the cooler. To lock the door again, tap the Lock button accordingly.

Alternate Method (Unlock During a Power Outage)

Any firmware version can use the below method to access the cabinet during a power outage:

The door's backup Unlock Button is located behind the Front Grill, below the cabinet.
It is connected to the main power as well as a backup 9V battery, which has a limited number of uses before the battery must be replaced.

  1. If the power is not on already, move the Unlock Button Power Switch to the ON position.

  2. Press the Unlock Button while pulling on the door.
    1. A tool inserted between the gaps of the grill may be sufficient to access the button. However, if you need to remove the grill to reach the button, remove the Phillips head screws (one on either side), then push down on the top of the grill firmly and evenly on both sides while pulling it toward you.

  1. After opening, prop open the door until ready to install the Pico device, to avoid needing to reuse the Unlock Button.

4. Adjust Support Screw

The cooler shipped with a Support Screw, which secured the door during transport. It's found under the door on the bottom-left when the cabinet is open.

  1. Fully tighten the support screw by turning it clockwise by hand until the screw doesn't turn easily anymore. PCV Imbera - Door Support Screw.jpg

5. Install the Leveling Screws

Install the (4) leveling screws by first starting as level as possible. Imbera coolers have autoclosing hinges.
If the door does not passively close on its own, lower the (2) rear leveling screws in small, equal adjustments, testing the door operation each time.

6. Install the Pico Unit

Disconnect external power before proceeding.

Identify Cable Connections

There are 3 cables coming out of the door of the cooler, which go into the following plugs on the rear of the Pico:

Connect the Cables

7. Attach the Door Mounting Bracket

To attach the Door Mounting Bracket:

  1. Close the door.

  2. Secure the (3) 10-32 × 7/8″ screws on the left side of the mounting bracket first, as these load the most weight.

  3. Secure the (2) 8-32 × 5/8″ screws on the right side of the mounting bracket.

8. Pico Device Configuration

These final steps result in the cooler being ready for operation.

  1. Connect the power cords for both the Cooler and the Technology Box to an outlet.

  2. The Pico device will turn on and display a Health Safety Alert (HSA), which appears as a red box stating, "Unable to unlock cabinet, Lock reset required, please contact operator."
  3. Unlock the cooler:
      1. If on firmware v. 427: Use the CIR WiFi app to unlock the cooler (as previously mentioned in the Unlock via App section of this guide), or unlock on the pico itself through the Driver Menu (as previously mentioned in the Unlock via Driver Menu section of this guide).
      2. If on firmware v. 431/481: Unlock on the pico itself through the Driver Menu.

  4. Login to the Pico Driver Menu.

  5. Tap the circle icon at the bottom of the screen, then touch and drag upward on the up arrow icon.

  6. Tap Mobile Setup on the list of apps that appear. This displays a screen with Kiosk Information and Network Information.

  7. Tap Testing & Tools > Test Connectivity.
If Checking For Updates is yellow, tap Next to download and install updates. Otherwise tap Back to return to Testing & Tools.

  8. If updates were not installed, continue. If updates were installed, scroll down and tap Reboot. After rebooting, repeat steps 4-5.

  9. Repeat steps 6-7.

  10. Tap Mobile Agent. If all items are green, continue. If any items are yellow or red, tap Check for Updates.

  11. Tap Launch Market. Repeat steps 4-5.

  12. Tap Unlock under Cabinet Functions. The door will unlock to confirm the device unlocks the cabinet.

  13. The cooler is now ready to stock and test a transaction.

HSA Reset Instructions

In the event of an HSA lockout, the method used to clear the warning depends on which firmware version the unit is on. (If unsure, please see the Identify Firmware Version section earlier in the article.)

HSA Reset for v. 427 Units

Units with v. 427 firmware can only reset HSA through the app:

The Cir WiFi app is needed to unlock the cooler, which clears the warning.

For instructions on how to unlock the cooler with the app, please see the Unlock via App section of this article.

HSA Reset for v. 431/831 Units

Units with v. 431/831 firmware will not be able to HSA reset through the app. They can only reset HSA from ADM or on the pico itself.

Reset HSA on the Pico Itself

  1. Tap the top-left corner of the screen five times > input the PIN for the account > tap the green checkmark.

  2. Tap the Reset HSA lockout button to reset HSA. (If the device is not in lockout, the Reset HSA lockout button will not appear.) During this time, the unlock and lock buttons will be grayed out, as the cooler cannot be unlocked without first resetting HSA.
