Updated

Purpose

This article overviews the equipment protection policy (warranty claim) for APC 120V UPS units.

Eligibility & Conditions

Product Type & Location

  • Must be a standard APC 120V product used in the U.S., Canada, Bermuda, or Puerto Rico.

  • Not valid for "X-option" products, APC Basic, or Personal SurgeArrest® models (for data recovery).

Proper Use & Installation

  • APC product must be directly connected to properly wired and grounded outlets.

  • No extension cords, adapters, or non-APC power protection products may be used.

  • Installation must comply with NEC electrical and safety codes.

  • Connected equipment must be UL or CSA approved.

  • For phone/network/CATV line coverage, the APC model must include that protection, and service lines must be properly grounded or protected.

Registration

Product must be registered online at se.com with details of connected equipment.

Claim Timing

Claim must be filed within 10 days of the damage.

What’s Covered

  • Damage to connected equipment caused by power line transients (spikes/surges) that the APC unit failed to protect against.

  • In some cases, phone line, network, or CATV transient damage if the APC product specifically supports it.

  • Schneider Electric may:

    • Pay for repair at an authorized service center, or

    • Reimburse fair market value of damaged equipment (up to the product’s listed coverage limit).

What’s Not Covered

  • Damage from misuse, accidents, disasters, improper installation, non-APC accessories, or tampering.

  • Data loss/software reinstallation (except limited data recovery service if eligible).

  • Losses beyond repair/replacement value (e.g., lost profits, downtime, customer claims).

  • Equipment not directly and properly connected to the APC unit.

Claim Process

  1. Call Schneider Electric (800-800-4APC) for an EPP Claim Case Number.

  2. Complete the Claim Questionnaire Form (must be submitted within 30 days).

  3. Ship the APC product (at your expense one way) for inspection.

  4. Save all damaged equipment and repair invoices; repairs must be done at authorized service centers.

  5. Schneider Electric will test the APC unit:

If no evidence of transient damage → claim is denied.

If confirmed → they decide on repair cost coverage or reimbursement at fair market value.

  6. They may require you to transfer ownership of damaged equipment if reimbursed at market value.

In Short

To get a claim approved, you must have a properly registered APC 120V product installed correctly (only with APC protection, grounded outlets, and approved equipment), file within 10 days of damage, and prove the failure was due to a power line transient the APC product failed to block.

Schneider Electric must inspect and confirm the damage before they will cover repair costs or reimburse fair market value.
