Lightspeed User Guide - Wireless Epson Printer Setup
Updated

Purpose

The purpose of this article is to outline the steps to setup and configure a Wireless Epson Printer for use with LightSpeed Services.

  • A wireless printer setup requires a separate device that is Wi-Fi capable, such as an iPad, Smart Phone, or Laptop.

  • If there are any errors in the Wi-Fi setup, or if the SSID/Password changes, the only way to switch the connection is to factory reset the unit via the reset button on the back of the printer.

Process

  1. Navigate to the Wi-Fi connection menu on the separate Wi-Fi capable device as the printer is powered on.

  2. Connect to an SSID named EPSON_Printer. The password is 12345678. If this SSID is not broadcasting, factory reset the printer.

  3. Open up a web browser and navigate to 192.168.192.168. A warning that the webpage is not secure might appear. Click more info or proceed anyway.

  4. Log into the printer configuration. A log in prompt should appear.

  5. The username is 'epson' and the password will either be 'epson' or the serial number of the printer.

  6. Once inside the configuration, click Wireless on the left-hand panel.

  7. In the SSID field, enter in the local Wi-Fi network name/SSID that the printer will be receiving print jobs over.
    • Note that this information must be exact, otherwise a factory reset of the printer will be necessary.

  8. Set the Encryption Type to WPA2-PSK.

  9. In the WPA Pre-Shared Key field, enter in the password for the local Wi-Fi network.
    • Note that this information must be exact, otherwise a factory reset of the printer will be necessary.

  10. Leave all other settings at default, then click SEND at the bottom of the page.

  11. When prompted to turn the printer off and back on, do not restart the printer.

  12. Navigate to Authentication > TCP/IP to make sure that the printer does not have a static IP set and is set to auto, which enables DHCP. Press Send at the bottom to complete configuration.
    1. Leaving the TCP/IP settings to the default DHCP option is best practice for wireless printers unless there is a reserved IP provided from the Location. If the printer is unable to join, a factory reset of the printer will be required and the process will need to start over.

    2. If the Location provides static IP information, navigate to Authentication > TCP/IP and switch the printer to static/manual IP settings.

  13. When prompted to restart the printer, please restart at this time.

  14. The printer will print out a configuration sheet when finished.

  15. At this point, the separate device used to configure the printer should be kicked off the EPSON_Printer Wi-Fi. Note that this process could take a few minutes.
    1. If the printer does not print a configuration sheet within 5 minutes, perform a factory reset on the printer and restart this process.

    2. To verify if the wireless printer has successfully connected to the network, please follow these steps:
      1. Make sure the Printer is powered on.

      2. Press and hold the reset button until a status sheet is printed.

      3. On the status sheet, the name of the wireless network (SSID) that was entered during the printer configuration will be printed, along with its connection status.

      4. If the status shows "CONNECTED," it means that the wireless Epson printer has successfully connected to the Wi-Fi network.

However, if the status shows "DISCONNECT," it indicates that either the information entered by the Operator was incorrect or the wrong encryption type was selected. If the printer did not connect successfully perform a factory reset on the printer and restart the process from the beginning.

  16. After you have completed these steps, the agent you are on the phone with should be able to finish the setup process.
