Purpose
Online Banners is a design feature caterers can use to communicate special menus or offers to customers on their website. This article will go over how to set up Online Banners.
Process
Creating Banners
- In the Back Office, navigate to Set Up > Online Ordering > Online Banners.
- Click Add Banner.
- Enter the desired new banner details in the fields below.
Banner Name
This will be for Back Office reference only.
Banner Locations
This field will display the location options for where the banner should appear on the website: Brochure Page, Top Banner, or Order Summary.
Brochure Page
Note: You must contact a Customer Success Specialist to enable a banner on the Brochure Page.
Also referred to as Landing Page or the Home Page, a banner can be placed on the page where customers begin their order.
In this photo example, the banner has been placed above the order widget:
Top Banner
The location of this banner is on the Menus Page, above the Menu Categories. If there is normally a header image displayed, it will be temporarily replaced by the banner.
Order Summary Page
The banner will appear after the customer has checked out and received their order confirmation. It is located under the order total.
Locations
Note: This only applies to the Top Banner and Order Summary Banner.
Date & Times
Start Date and End Date: Caterers may choose the run period of the banners by choosing a Start Date and End Date. The banners will automatically appear and disappear online during this timeframe.
Example: The below settings mean the banner will turn on January 1st and will turn off after January 31st.
Start Time and End Time: These fields will dictate what time of day the banners will appear. For example: You may want the banners to only appear during lunch hours, so you may set the start time for 12:00 PM and end time for 3:00 PM.
Leaving Date and Time fields blank will have the banners appear indefinitely.
Banner Type
Depending on the location of the banner (Brochure Page, Top Banner, or Order Summary) there are different styles of banner to choose from. The type of style you choose may affect how many images you can place.
Picture - left aligned, text - right aligned
Picture - right aligned, text - left aligned
Text in the middle, pictures on both sides
Whole Image, text overlay
Linking to Page & Buttons
Caterers are able to link their banners to URLS by inputting links to a page. They have an option to either make the banner itself clickable to the URL or by adding a button to direct customers.
Clickable Banner - If the the preference is to have the banner itself be the link, input a link and leave the button field blank.
Clickable Buttons - By adding text in the Button field, the banner will generate a clickable button which will display the text entered in that field.
Adding Text To Banners
If there should be text with the banner, the Header Text and Body Text fields will display up to 50 characters.
Adding Images
Each Banner Type has different image size requirements. Below are the specs for each type:
Top Banner/ Brochure page:
- Single image: 1500 x 275 px (Aspect ratio: 5.52)
- 2 images: 500 x 200 px (Aspect ratio: 2.52)
Order Summary page:
- 270 x 175 (Aspect ratio: 1.52)
These are the minimum size requirements; anything larger (file size permitting) can be used and will be rescaled.
To add an image, click + Add Image. A pop-up will appear, prompting you to upload the image. Click Upload to upload the desired image.
If using a banner type that supports two images, upload a second image using Picture 2.
LTO Banner System
The LTO feature enables you to create and attach promotional banners to menus. LTO enables two capabilities directly from the menu:
-
Add existing promotions – Allow users to attach already-created promos from the menu.
-
Create new banners – Provide the ability to generate a new promotional banner directly from the menu interface.
Link Menus
Banners can be linked to a menu from the Banner Details page, where the other previously mentioned fields are also found.
Below Link menus on the Banner Details page, there is an Add Menus drop-down. From the drop-down, select either All Menus or one or multiple menus to apply the banner to.
LTO Conditions
- If a Banner has a list of attached Menus and any of those menus are present in the available Menus list, then the Banner is valid.
- If none of the Menus are present in the available Menus, then the Banner is not valid.
- On the Menu Detail Promo tab, we will show the active banners only. Which means if a banner’s end date has passed, then it will be inactive and won't be shown on the Menu Promo tab. If an end date is not given, then it will be assumed to be an active banner.
