Purpose

The purpose of this article is to outline common MM6 Mini Touchscreen issues and troubleshooting steps. Commonly described issues include the 'Touchscreen showing black/blank screen' and 'Touchscreen not responding properly to touch'.

Touchscreen is Black/Blank

If the touchscreen is completely black, it's possible that the screen and/or kiosk may be powered off. Be sure both the screen and the CPU are powered on by completing the following steps:

  1. Confirm the Kiosk is powered on. Check that the blue light is 'on' on the PC. If the kiosk is not receiving power, turn on the kiosk and check to see if the screen powers on normally.

  2. Check the power cable/connector is connected to the ELO Touchscreen Monitor 'DC IN' port.

  3. Be sure that all connections running from the back of the touchscreen to the kiosk computer are fully seated. Make sure the HDMI Cable is connected fully.

  4. Then, confirm the other end of the HDMI cable is securely fastened into the ELO monitor touchscreen.

  5. Verify that the power supply is plugged in by checking the power cable is firming plugged into the top brick (ELO Power Supply).

  6. If the touchscreen does not power back on after you have confirmed that all connections are secure, restart the kiosk and try again.

  7. Disconnect the display cable at the CPU, and keep it removed from the touchscreen for 1-2 minutes.
  8. Reattach the power cable to the touchscreen and note if the the touchscreen indicates it is powering up.
    • If the screen backlighting turns on, reattach the display cable to the CPU and restart the kiosk.
  9. If the touchscreen still remains black, it is possible that the backlight inside the monitor is burnt out. Try shining a flashlight onto the screen. If an image becomes visible, contact 365 Support at (888) 365-6282 for further assistance.

Touchscreen does not Respond to Touch

A dirty or smudged touchscreen can affect the way the monitor registers touch. In addition, dirt buildup along the inside edge of the kiosk chassis or over-tightened screws can cause "deadspots" on the screen. Learn more about the maintenance of the ELO Touchscreen in our guide Cleaning Instructions for Multiple Devices.

If after cleaning the touchscreen, it is still not responding to touch, the screen may need to be recalibrated and/or the software reinstalled. Contact 365 Support at (888) 365-6282 while on site for assistance with recalibrating the touchscreen.
