What is a Top-Down Check?

A top-down check is performed on a MicroMarket to check the overall health of the market. The process checks that:

  • All the peripheral devices connected to the kiosk are detected properly.
  • The product database is correctly loaded.
  • The payment system is functional.

This process must be performed with the operator on-site following the staging process.

Top-Down Checklist

  1. VERIFY BRANDING
Verify that the branding in the Point of Sale is correct (AveC/365/Market C). If it is not, contact 365 and we will adjust it.

  2. CHECK THE DATE, TIME, AND TIME ZONE
Go to the Date & Time settings on the kiosk and ask the operator to verify that the information showing is correct. If it is not, contact 365 and we will adjust it.

  3. TEST TOUCHSCREEN
The touchscreen should not need to be calibrated because all kiosks are calibrated before being shipped. Test the touchscreen and calibrate if needed. For detailed instructions, see ELO Touchscreen - Troubleshooting for 365 Support.

  4. TEST BAR CODE SCANNER / MAKE A LIVE CREDIT TRANSACTION
    1. Request that the operator scans an item and purchases it using a credit card.
    2. After the live transaction is completed, void the transaction from the batch.
Note: For Canadian installs, also test a debit card using a test transaction.
    3. When voiding, verify that the AppCode column does not show CCDEMO. If you see CCDEMO in this column, contact a Level 2 Technician or a Support Supervisor for assistance.

  6. TEST RECEIPT PRINTER
    1. For detailed steps in Valet, see Epson Printer: Troubleshooting Common Issues.

  7. TEST BILL ACCEPTOR
    1. Go to the kiosk exit settings.
    2. Choose Bill Acceptor from the Select A Peripheral drop-down menu.
    3. Click the Test Acceptor (Take Bills) button and wait for the Acceptor Status to say "insert bill".
    4. When "insert bill" appears, insert a bill into the bill acceptor. The Acceptor Status should show the bill denomination.
